Information:

RadioSure allows users to tune into radio stations from around the globe and even record their favorite programs. With a simple interface and excellent performance, this was a surprising and fun download. The program’s interface is incredibly simple, though possibly overwhelming at first. All 17,000 of the radio stations are listed, with a traditional media player layout at the bottom. While we would have liked to see better ways to filter the stations, the search menu did a great job of narrowing our queries to specific programs, stations, and cities we were looking for.

The program does not offer a Help file, but we found it intuitive enough that any level of user should be able to get the hang of the radio. Radio stations were categorized by style of programming, call numbers, city, and language. Once one was selected, the connection was fast and clear and there were no gaps or skips in coverage. We were very happy with the ease of searching for stations and the sound quality produced.

While the thousands of stations amazed us, we were blown away by the program’s special features. Most stations provided information on the artists and songs, which was helpful. In addition, users can bookmark their favorite stations and even hit a simple record button to digitally tape their favorite stations. With an incredible selection, excellent sound quality, and impressive special features, we highly recommend users download this free program as an alternative to the radio.

Simple setup and clear-cut interface

You have the option to either install this software normally, or as a portable version (this way, no registry entries are made or altered, and you can take it with you on a USB stick).

Regardless of the one you choose, you should know that no third-party offers are included, and you are going to be brought to a pretty simple and clean interface. It comprises a few buttons, and a pane in which to view a list of all available stations. Consequently, it is accessible to all user categories.

Search for a station and record the stream

When you initiate the program, radio stations are immediately displayed. You can view and sort them according to title, country of origin, genre, and language. A search function is also included, thus allowing you to find an item with great ease.

Furthermore, the title and genre of each song is displayed right above the search box. You can add a radio station to Favorites, adjust the volume, and record a song using an MP3 format. The recorded audio file is automatically named after the actual song.

Settings you can configure

In the Options menu you can enable or disable crossfade between stations, show song titles in the system tray, or modify the output destination for recordings.

Additionally, you can select bitrate, split recordings by track, avoid duplicated recordings, mute the utility when the computer is locked, select audio device, configure proxy settings, enable global hotkeys, and others.

Conclusion

The program uses a fair amount of memory resources, so owners of lesser configurations should be able to run it just fine. The response time is good, and we did not come across any hangs or freezes in our tests.

To wrap it up, Radio Sure is a simple Internet radio player with a couple of interesting features. The list of radio stations is updated frequently and thus new stations are added constantly. If you are interested

I did a manual install of this program. This program works without having to do anything special. EXCEPT: you have to manually add the launch icon.

Notes:

I am running Debian Stretch (stable)

I am running wine-4.0 (Debian 4.0-1~bpo9+2) from Debian backports.

This step tells Debian to use the i386 architecture as well as amd64. You should do this even if you do not follow the backports instructions below.

I origianally had a lot of problems with wine and it was because of not doing this.

# dpkg --add-architecture i386

# apt update

# apt upgrade (make sure all your software is up to date!)

To install from backports, first add backports to your repos.

# echo 'deb http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-backports main' | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/stretch-backports.list

Radiosure for macular degeneration

# apt update

Then install (or re-install) Wine:
# apt install
wine/stretch-backports
wine32/stretch-backports
wine64/stretch-backports
libwine/stretch-backports
libwine:i386/stretch-backports
fonts-wine/stretch-backports
This will install Wine 4.?.? from backports, and should give improved compatibility.

Also, I create a 32bit wine prefix:

$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine wine wineboot

Then I run winetricks and install core fonts to the default wine prefix (~/.wine)

If you are using an unmodified 'sources.list' file, you may need to add 'contrib' to your repositories:

# nano /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ stretch main contrib

deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security stretch/updates main contrib

This is because winetricks is located in the 'contrib' section.

An unrelated FYI... If you use multimedia applications you might want to do the following to get newer/updated software... I'm pretty sure this will also work with Ubuntu.

Add deb-multimedia.org to your repos. Check out their software!

# echo 'deb http://deb-multimedia.org stretch main non-free' | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/deb-multimedia.list

AFTER following the instructions on their home page to install their keyring, do this:

# apt update
